Who we are
DILG stands for the Department of the Interior and Local Government in the Philippines.
It is a government agency responsible for overseeing local governments, promoting peace and order, and ensuring the effective implementation of national policies at the local level. The DILG plays a crucial role in strengthening local governance and enhancing the delivery of basic services to communities.
Local Government Supervision: It provides guidance and support to local government units (LGUs) to ensure that they operate efficiently and in accordance with the law.
Peace and Order: The DILG works with the Philippine National Police (PNP) and other agencies to ensure law enforcement and the maintenance of peace and order across the country.
Disaster Management: It oversees disaster preparedness and response efforts in coordination with other agencies.
Public Safety: It works on improving fire protection and other public safety services through agencies like the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
Development Programs: It implements programs aimed at promoting socio-economic development in local communities.
The DILG plays a vital role in fostering democracy and governance by promoting transparency, accountability, and effective service delivery at the local government level.
